Christopher E. Hughes is the Managing Broker for a Vancouver based real estate brokerage. Christopher has been involved within many sectors of real estate in British Columbia for over 31+ years. Christopher’s experience includes negotiating and finalizing the sale and/or purchase and /or leasing of commercial, investment and residential real estate plus commercial and residential property management.
Moreover, Christopher’s extensive background also includes working experience in the sale and purchase of land,
(recreational) multi-family land assembly sites, commercial-investment opportunities and (telco site acquisition and leasing services) and residential real estate.
Mr. Hughes has worked on behalf of numerous clients including financial institutions such as the Royal Bank of Canada and Confederation Trust Company in Liquidation in the sales of residential strata lots under Orders for the Conduct of Sale. Furthermore, lenders such as MCAP Financial and British Columbia based Mortgage Investment Corporations (MICs) have also been part of Christopher’s experience in the disposition of commercial and residential properties.
Past real estate assignments include the disposition of 5000 acres of non-timber (recreational) multiple lots (raw land) for Weyerhaeuser Company Limited, a Vancouver based multi-national forest products company. Providing real estate trading services on behalf of a national lender as their signing authority in the listing, disposition, review, and the contractual signoff on 300+ residential and commercial properties in foreclosure across Canada.
The disposition of complete subdivisions (bare lands) in the Interior of British Columbia. Site acquisition services for “church” sites in Greater Vancouver and the Interior of British Columbia for a US based organization. Residential site assembly assignments for Vancouver based multi-family developers and finally selecting residential and commercial investment opportunities for local, national, and international buyers and site acquisition assignments for telco related sites and services on behalf of TELUS Mobility, Rogers Communications and Shaw Telecom (startup).
Mr. Hughes is a member of the Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute having attained his CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation in 1997. The designation is a universally recognized commercial real estate designation and is granted by the CCIM Institute which is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in the United States. The CCIM Institute has approximately 18,000 designated candidates worldwide with the majority in the USA and Canada.
In addition, he has obtained the FRI (Fellow of the Real Estate Institute) residential and commercial designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 1998. In the past, he has successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course, Level One Life and General Insurance licensing requirements for British Columbia and has attended the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Commerce Urban Land Diploma Program.
Overall, Mr. Hughes’s greatest strength lies with his strong legal contract law knowledge, negotiating abilities, industry knowledge and overall experience and industry contacts to identify opportunities in the commercial, residential real estate marketplace and to make deals happen.
