In his 43rd year in the commercial real estate industry, Larry Ilfeld is a Senior Advisor with SVN|WALT ARNOLD COMMERCIAL BROKERAGE, INC., selling a wide variety of types of commercial real estate and land. He began his commercial real estate career in 1981 in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and relocated to New Mexico in 2000, where he has brokered hundreds of transactions in a wide variety of property types including industrial, office, and retail.
In addition to working in the general commercial and investment real estate areas, Ilfeld is a member of SVN's specialized ASSET RECOVERY TEAM (SVN-ART). SVN-ART is a collaboration of SVN advisors with extensive background and experience in the field of special real estate assets and loan workouts, entailing asset evaluation and management, property preservation, risk management, accelerated marketing, and auction/sealed bid and on-line sales.
During the calamitous real estate downturn in New England in the early 1990's Ilfeld developed significant distressed asset and workout experience working with the FDIC and its major subcontractor, Bank One, selling commercial real estate assets for both entities as part of the area's market turnaround process.
As part of his real estate brokerage business Ilfeld consults with clients on structuring sales of highly appreciated real estate assets utilizing the Deferred Sales Trusts™. Deferred Sales Trust™ sales enable sellers to defer long-term capital gains and invest otherwise-taxable income in alternative investments of the sellers’ choosing.
Ilfeld holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and ALC (Accredited Land Consultant) designations. He is one of only two Accredited Land Consultants based in New Mexico. He is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the REALTORS® Land Institute (RLI), the Commercial Association of REALTORS® of New Mexico (CARNM).
He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston University.
